After some not-so-pleasant experiences in my teens, I’d somewhat written off the so-called professionals. But I struggled to maintain my hair myself and knew I needed someone with a demonstrable history of working with natural hair. So, when I found Amour on Instagram — all the way from South America — I knew I needed to make an appointment for my next visit to The Netherlands. Afua delivered on everything I expected and more. I booked the “curl love deluxe experience” and received not only great care but also learnt how to cleanse, condition, style, and define my hair myself. Afua answered my many, many questions pleasantly and encouragingly and always ensured I could replicate what she was doing before we moved on. I took plenty of notes and videos and she double checked that I had all the information I needed before I left. I left my appointment feeling empowered and confident that I could care and style my hair (perhaps not as well as Afua but I’m sure I’ll get there someday!) I also LOVED my cut and even now, several days later, my hairstyle looks better than I’ve been able to do on my own. On an aside, I also ordered some products from the Amour web shop after my appointment and they shipped and arrived quickly. Thank you Afua/Amour Hair & Beauty!
